Press release
| Date | 15 January 2010 |
Nine out of ten DSB customers who applied for compensation with De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) have received their money now. So far, almost EUR 3 billion has been paid out to DSB customers.
Up to now, 225,000 DSB customers have applied to be compensated for their bank credit balances. The large majority of account holders (85%) submitted their applications digitally and were refunded within a couple of days. In total, DNB paid out money to 210,000 DSB account holders.
Currently, more than 15,000 applications are being processed. Most of these were submitted in writing and consequently take longer to process. Applications involving settlements also take more time. According to the law, applicants must receive compensation within three months, provided they qualify.
Some 100,000 customers have not yet submitted an application. They can still do so until Monday, 22 March 2010. It is expected that not all account holders will apply for compensation. Those account holders with only very small deposits are generally not inclined to submit an application.
