The Open Book on Supervision has been designed for use by professionals working in the field of prudential supervision. Using the OBS presupposes a modicum of familiarity with the relevant legal documents.
Sectors
The user may directly select the information that is relevant to a specific business sector. Sector-specific starting pages may be accessed from the left-hand column on the OBS homepage or almost any other page. Once a sector has been selected, only those texts and links are presented that are relevant within the context of that sector. The choice of sector also affects search results.

Legislative texts are made available both as full texts and section by section. The main laws and European directives may be found under the heading 'Shortcut to a law or directive'. Each legislative text is preceded by a summary introduction. Examples of legislative texts presented:

On the starting pages of each top-level legislative text, the column on the right refers to the full text, an overview of secondary legislation and Source documents (legislative history).
Advanced search
The Open Book includes a sophisticaed search facility visible on every page in the top right-hand corner. With the search facility, visitors may seach for words occurring in the several subdivisions of each page (page title, introduction or complete text). Searches may also be limited to certain types of pages or certain industry sectors.
One of the most powerful elements of the search facility is the possibility to search within a legislative text. Only pages of or related to that legislative text will be searched.

Search term: dispensation
Search in: secondary legislation
Sector: Trust offices
Legislation: Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act
This search will find all pages in the category 'secondary legislation' that contain the word 'dispensation'. And within those, only the pages both related directly or indirectly to the cited Act and relevant to trust offices.
