526 - Central bank independence and monetary policy: on a national and European level

Wetenschappelijke publicatie
Date 6 November 1997

After a short view on the main characteristics of central banks, the report deals with the question of independency of central banks and monetary policy. Both aspects are further analysed in an examination of the German Bundesbank and the Nederlandsche Bank. Finally, attention has been paid to the independency of the future European Central Bank. The report has been presented at the central bank course held in Paramaribo by the Center for Latin American Studies in October 1997.
