Featured statistic: EUR 6.3 billion

In April, the foreign currency reserves of DNB came out at EUR 6.3 billion. At approximately 35%, the foreign currency reserves make up a sizeable part of the official reserves. They break down into two subitems: ‘securities’ and ‘currency and deposits’

Overall, foreign currency reserves have seen a reasonably stable development. The composition of the foreign currency reserves, however, has shown an increase in securities and a reduction in currency and deposits (see the Chart).

Other components of the official reserves are the gold reserves and IMF-related items (special drawing rights and the IMF reserve position). Gold reserves, at over EUR 10 billion, make up the largest part of the official reserves (56%).
