From January 2005 to June 2006, the balance sheet total of Dutch collective investment schemes under supervision steadily rose to EUR 29 billion.

This increase in the balance sheet total is largely accounted for by the real estate sector’s persistently good performance over the said period and the fact that much of the resulting profits were added to the reserves. In the past six months, net inflow of money had no more than a moderate effect on real estate funds’ balance sheet totals (net inflow: EUR 231 million).  

With the aggregate balance sheet total of all Dutch collective investment scheme types combined standing at EUR 110 billion, real estate funds have a market share of well over 26%, making this the largest investment category second to equity funds (market share: 37%).
