We process personal data to facilitate payments between financial institutions, to receive securities and valuables for safekeeping in monetary operations, and to provide liquidity to banks. We also process personal data for payments and market infrastructures policy purposes.

Payments and security


To facilitate payments and receiving securities and valuables for safekeeping, we process the personal data listed below:

  • details of contacts at financial institutions
  • signature cards
  • extracts from the Trade Register of the Chamber of Commerce
  • photocopies of identity documents

This personal data processing is necessary for the performance of our tasks carried out in the public interest under Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR.

Payments and market infrastructures policy

For payments and market infrastructures policy purposes, we consult with other authorities involved in these policy areas, including the Ministry of Finance and the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten – AFM). We process the contact details of the organisations' staff members participating in these consultations. In the event of an operational disruption in the payment system or market infrastructure, depending on the type of disruption we process additional personal data, e.g. details of contacts at financial institutions. This personal data processing is necessary for the performance of our tasks carried out in the public interest under Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR.
