The guarantee applies to most account holders and virtually all types of bank accounts. DNB and the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF) are jointly responsible for implementing the Dutch DGS.
Amendments to the DGS
Following the introduction of the recast DGS Directive in Dutch legislation at the end of 2015, the DGS will see some significant amendments in the near future. For example, the payout deadline after bank failure will be reduced from twenty to seven working days, and a Deposit Guarantee Fund has been set up. To accommodate the new DGS requirements DNB has developed additional regulations, guidance and information for banks and other professional parties. For more information, see the overview of current regulations and publications regarding the Single customer view, Scope and Execution, DGF levies and Reporting.
