DNB plans to cease supporting the combining returns functionality in e-Line. Over the years, this functionality has proved complex and unmanageable.
DNB holds the view that e-Line is primarily a reporting tool for transmission of data between reporting institutions and DNB. As DNB sees it, supporting processes that are internally employed by reporting institutions – which is in fact what DNB does in the case of combining returns functionality – , is not part of e-Line’s primary function. Scrapping this functionality will reduce the complexity of e-Line and thus enhance its functioning.
DNB has already contacted the reporters who use this functionality to agree on a phasing-out process. We advise other reporters against starting to use this functionality, as it will no longer be available in e-Line as of September 2011.
