Interest in corporate culture is a late 20th century phenomenon. So far it seems to have been of sole interest to business scientists and management consultants, although there is much to be learned from history as well. This paper explores what may be learned about the culture of financial institutions in particular central banks by looking at their historiography. Can we determine from the historiography of national central banks national differences and a change of corporate culture over time?
