New section for crypto service providers on Open Book Supervision
Published: 15 November 2019
DNB updates Open Book on Supervision with a new section for crypto service providers. It is expected that from 10 January 2020 onwards crypto service providers – i.e. firms offering services for the exchange between virtual and regular currencies, and providers of custodian wallets for virtual currencies – will come under integrity supervision by DNB.
The information describes the registration process and the various requirements crypto service providers have to meet, including assessments, the Anti-Money Laundering anti-Terrorist Financing Act (Wet ter voorkoming van witwassen en financieren van terrorisme – Wwft) and sanctions regulations. This new section offers guidance to parties preparing to offer crypto services. The information on Open Book Supervision is not static and will be complemented and updated. For questions and comments about this new section, please send an email to crypto@dnb.nl.
