Finance minister Steven van Weyenberg nominated Van Oorschot on the recommendation of DNB’s Supervisory Board. She is succeeding Nicole Stolk, who stepped down as a member of the Executive Board with effect from 15 April 2024.

President Klaas Knot had this to say: “We are delighted that Cindy is advancing to the Executive Board from within our own ranks. She will be responsible for future-proofing our IT landscape, professionalising our operational management even further, the resolution of banks and insurers, and the deposit guarantee scheme. Her broad management experience in monetary affairs and supervision, as well as her experience in managing specialist departments in the areas of operational risk & IT and financial risk, make her particularly well-suited to this role. As the Executive Board member for Internal Operations and Resolution, she will reinforce the link between DNB’s business units and bring her knowledge of financial institutions and markets to bear on the resolution task.”

Van Oorschot (b. 1974) has an extensive track record in the financial sector. She has held various management positions at DNB, including as head of Intervention & Enforcement, head of Supervision of International Insurance Groups and head of Asset Management. In recent years she also chaired the Deposit Guarantee Fund, National Resolution Fund and Investor Compensation Fund. Van Oorschot studied economics at Tilburg University, specialising in financial economics.

With the Internal Operations and Resolution portfolio, Van Oorschot will be the Executive Board member responsible for Finance & Risk Management, Data & IT, Operational Management, Sustainability, HR and Resolution.

The procedure to fill the vacant post of Director of Pension Supervision is underway. Van Oorschot will continue to fulfil a liaison role for the pension sector until 1 September.
