02-07-2026 DNB publishes update MESREP taxonomy version 5.0.0

DNB has published an update of the MESREP taxonomy, version 5.0.0. This taxonomy version applies to reporting periods from (i.e. figures for) 2027.
Under User documentation MESREP taxonomy version 5.0.0 you will find this entire taxonomy package including release notes, as well as other user documentation.

Changes
The changes include:

  • an update of the country lists;

  • adjustments to the crypto forms, specifically:

    • for certain crypto-assets a shift of the ‘Rewards’ column to a column under transactions;

    • a renaming of the instrument for crypto-asset lending, including an additional breakdown, as well as of the corresponding reporting forms;

  • the introduction of a new reporting profile (entry point) for Crypto Asset Service Providers (CSPs). This profile applies to larger providers of crypto-asset services that hold an AFM licence for custody and administration of crypto-assets on behalf of clients. The Excel reporting template on clients’ crypto-assets introduced in 2026 will be incorporated into the taxonomy, with some modifications.

You will also find here the new version of the Manual (version 5.0), which has been adapted to the new taxonomy. It also contains improvements, additions and changes due to new international statistics guidelines (see for the major amendments the table in the Manual under version management).

The 'DNB MES Excel templates 5.0.0' (Excel input templates) have not yet been published to prevent them from being used earlier for submitting the reports. They will be published in February 2027.
The forms are also in the 'DNB MES DPM Dictionary And Annotated Templates 5.0.0' file, albeit in different form, and in Excel form in the above-mentioned overview of changes.

Prepared alsof for xBRL-CSV
The new version of this taxonomy has been prepared for reporting in xBRL-CSV. New versions of taxonomies remain for the time being compatible with the existing xBRL-XML format. Both formats can therefore be submitted.
In addition, an Excel conversion module will remain available for all templates via My DNB – Reports, which converts submitted Excel reports into XBRL. This is unchanged compared to the current reporting process.
With the introduction of xBRL-CSV, the way in which De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) validates Filing Indicators will change. For more information, see the message Changes to Filing Indicator validation with the introduction of xBRL CSV.
