Deposit guarantee scheme for the Caribbean Netherlands: information for the financial sector

Deposits held in bank accounts in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba (the Caribbean Netherlands) are legally protected by the deposit guarantee scheme for the Caribbean Netherlands (DGS CN). De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) administers the deposit guarantee on behalf of the government. If a bank goes bankrupt, DNB will make sure that account holders get their money back, up to a maximum of $25,000 per person, per bank. DNB and the Stichting Depositogarantiefonds Caribisch Nederland (DGF CN) are jointly responsible for administering the DGS CN. DGF CN manages the available financial means and makes them available as and when required. The financial means consist of contributions from individual banks. The banks also provide data which DNB needs to administer the DGS CN, and they provide their customers with information about the DGS CN.
