Marike Knoef appointed to DNB Supervisory Board from 1 April

Professor Marike Knoef will join the Supervisory Board of De Nederlandsche Bank from 1 April. Knoef has been appointed by Finance minister Eelco Heinen on behalf of the shareholder on the nomination of DNB’s Supervisory Board, for an initial four-year term. She will replace Mirjam van Praag, who stepped down from the Supervisory Board on 1 March 2026.

Marike Knoef has an extensive academic background in economics. Since 2023, she has been Dean of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM) and Professor of Economics at Tilburg University. Previously, she held various academic posts at Leiden University and was the director of the Network for Studies on Pensions, Ageing and Retirement (Netspar). Her research focuses on pensions, wealth accumulation and the role of policy in this context.

In addition to her main role, Knoef holds various social and supervisory positions, including as a Crown-appointed member of the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER), Vice-Chair of the Advisory Council of Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and member of the Central Plan Committee of the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB).
