The risk methodology for the Dutch Deposit Guarantee has been amended and laid down in the ministerial regulation. The reason for the change was the evaluation of the risk methodology in 2021. The revised methodology applies from premium date 31 December 2022.
Risk weighting of premiums is a fundamental part of the revised Deposit Guarantee Scheme that came into effect in 2015. Periodic evaluation and recalibration are essential to ensure a correct risk classification and sufficient risk differentiation. DNB therefore evaluated the risk methodology for the Dutch Deposit Guarantee in 2021 and developed a proposal for recalibration.
Stakeholders could respond to the evaluation and recalibration until 22 August 2022. DNB has included the received responses in its final advice to the Ministry of Finance, which has subsequently adopted the changed risk method by amending the ministerial regulation.
The amendment to the ministerial regulation was published on 1 December 2022 in the Government Gazette. The report "Evaluation and recalibration of risk methodology Dutch Deposit Guarantee" can be found on the page “Deposit Guarantee Fund levies”. DNB will also publish an update of the Fact sheet on risk methodology on this webpage.
The changed risk methodology applies from premium date 31 December 2022.
