Those concrete steps are detailed in our annual progress report. From pilots in Rotterdam to innovative solutions for agriculture in saline areas, the working group not only worked with a range of partners in 2025 on new plans, but also actively implemented them.
Pilots that make a difference
- Future-proof living in Rotterdam
In the Bloemhof district, banks, insurers, knowledge partners and the municipality are working together on scenarios and public-private solutions for climate-proof living.
- Climate-adaptive business parks
The fact sheet on 'Climate adaptation for business parks' (Dutch only) and the Green-Deal approach (Dutch only) have been launched. In the municipality of Sneek, a pilot is under way at the Hemmen I and II business parks to boost their resilience to climate risks.
- Climate-adaptive agriculture
An exploration has been launched with the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland for agriculture in saline conditions, also involving public-private financing solutions.
More than pilots: nationwide impact
Last year, the Working Group also worked with ministries, municipalities and knowledge partners on initiatives such as:
- The launch of the Dutch Climate Risk Portal (DCRP), the central source for data and insights on climate risks for the financial sector and companies.
- The development of the Water Guide for homeowners.
- A newly added chapter on the role of the financial sector in the National Climate Adaptation Strategy (NAS).
- Survey of expectations of homeowners with foundation problems in the municipality of Lingewaard.
Sharing knowledge, facilitating acceleration
By sharing experiences and lessons from pilots, the Working Group encourages a comprehensive approach as we move into 2026. Collaborations with initiatives such as NL AAA-Klimaatbestendig, the Adaptatie Atelier Foundation and Resilient Delta strengthen the national strategy.
