Statistics provide insight into the financial sector's exposure to climate change impacts. They also provide information on financing the transition to a more sustainable economy.
This dashboard shows statistics on green bond ownership and issuance. In addition, it shows two types of risks that financial institutions are exposed to through their investments in non-financial enterprises. These are physical risks, such as water stress and coastal flooding, and transition risks, which occur due to investments in enterprises which have relatively high carbon footprints.
The new sustainability indicators in this dashboard were developed and published with the European Central Bank (ECB) and other euro area central banks in early 2023. The datasets were developed in a very short timeframe, so their quality is not yet comparable to regular statistics published by DNB and the ECB. This is why the indicators have been labelled “experimental” or “analytical”. Over the next few years, we will be working hard to raise the quality to the level of regular statistics.
