Specific data

Data request

If you need specific statistical data that DNB collects, but does not (yet) publish on the Data search page, you can submit a specific data request. We will decide whether to make the data available on a case-by-case basis. We will consider the operational feasibility of publication, the quality of the data to be published, and relevance to a wider group of users. In addition, the requested data may not contain any confidential statistical microdata.

If DNB decides to make the data available, it will be published on this page, where it is accessible to all users.

Submitting a data request

To submit a specific data request, please contact: stat-info@dnb.nl. Please provide the following information:

  • A clear description of the data you need
  • A brief explanation of why you need this data
  • Your contact details

Published data requests

You will find a list of data published as a result of previous data requests:

Microdata

Certain external parties may request microdata: anonymised data on individual institutions. This is subject to certain conditions. DNB's microdata are available on request only to researchers from the following bodies:

  • Dutch universities and other scientific research institutions
  • agencies such as the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis and the Netherlands Institute for Social Research
  • the EU Statistical Office (Eurostat) and statistical authorities of European Union Member States
  • the ECB and the central banks that are part of the ESCB.

We will decide whether to make the data available on a case-by-case basis.

Submitting a microdata request

Each request begins with a written request setting out the purpose of the study, who will participate, what data will be made available, whether there is any desired linkage with Statistics Netherlands (CBS) data, and the timelines. This is followed by an intake interview. If this interview leads to an agreement, the arrangements regarding the content of the request, the researchers involved, the data to be provided, the timelines and the method of making the data available are laid down in a contract. In addition, the researchers involved must sign a confidentiality agreement.

Microdata from the ECB and other central banks

In 2025, the ECB launched a pilot project to provide access to anonymised microdata on European banks to a limited group of researchers. This involved data about balance sheets and interest rates. Read more about the pilot project here

In addition, on this ECB page you can find a list of European central banks offering microdata. Some of these institutions also offer a catalogue, which is available on the same page.
