Eurosystem Reserve Management - Thrusted euro infrastructure

Eurosystem Reserve Management Services (ERMS) provides the trusted euro infrastructure that allows central banks to focus on stability — not on operational complexity.

In a volatile and increasingly fragmented world, financial stability depends on trust, cooperation and reliable infrastructure between central banks.

Foreign central banks need a safe, neutral and efficient way to hold and use euro reserves — especially in times of market stress or geopolitical tension. Building and maintaining this infrastructure individually is complex, costly and vulnerable.

DNB’s Eurosystem Reserve Management Services exist to solve this collectively. Through ERMS, central banks can rely on the strength, credibility and operational capacity of the Eurosystem, while preserving autonomy and confidentiality. The services support:

  • global financial stability,

  • the smooth functioning of euro markets, and

  • the international role of the euro as a reserve currency.

For DNB and its peers, ERMS is not about commercial activity — it is about enabling resilient international cooperation between public institutions, grounded in trust, discipline and shared responsibility within the Eurosystem.

The relevant ECB guidelines and decisions on the renumeration of non-monetary policy deposits and more information about Eurosystem Reserve Management Services are available on the ECB’s website: Eurosystem reserve management services (europa.eu)
