Cash is widely used on the islands, which is why DNB is expanding its services with ATM services in the Caribbean Netherlands. DNB is doing so in collaboration with the Public Entities of Saba and Sint Eustatius, and the ATM provider Brink’s.
The DNB ATMs on Saba were officially opened on Monday, 29 June. Jonathan Johnson, Governor of Saba, made the first cash withdrawal in the presence of DNB’s Director of Payments & Cash, Inge van Dijk. On Thursday, 2 July, Governor Alida Francis and Inge van Dijk officially opened the ATMs on Sint Eustatius.
The first additional cash machines mark a milestone as DNB takes a step towards improving the availability, accessibility and affordability of cash on the islands, which will greatly benefit residents, business owners and visitors to Saba and Sint Eustatius. The US dollar is the local currency on Saba and Sint Eustatius. ATMs will therefore dispense US dollar bills. Saba and Sint Eustatius already have two ATMs, offered by commercial banks. An additional four from DNB will complement ATM service availability on each island.
