Shocks, inequality, and trade-offs: Monetary policy in a heterogeneous economy
10-11 November, 2026 - 29th Annual Research Conference of the Dutch Central Bank
The central objective of this conference is to take stock—nearly a decade after heterogeneous‑agent frameworks entered mainstream monetary policy analysis—of the extent to which this development has reshaped our understanding of aggregate dynamics and policy transmission. The aim is to delineate the conditions under which heterogeneity across households, firms, and other economic actors yields essential insights for business‑cycle analysis and policy design, and the circumstances in which such heterogeneity can be abstracted from without significant loss of accuracy.
This annual research conference aims to bring together top scholars from around the world to discuss these issues. We invite theoretical and empirical contributions that deepen our understanding of monetary policy transmission in a heterogenous economy.
