The Role of Internal Audit in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Auditing
Purpose of the seminar
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) encompasses strategy, risk, and opportunities for organisations. The pace of change in both society and the climate is sharpening stakeholder focus on ESG risks that many organisations are facing; from various points of view such as financial stability, reporting and regulators. This gives pressure on organisations to assess, manage, and disclose their ESG positions and related risks.
Many Internal Audit Departments still focus on traditional auditable areas such as safeguarding of assets, IT and compliance. With internal auditors ability to anticipate and assess risks, provide assurance and advice management, internal auditors are well positioned to help the organisation furthering its ESG objectives given their broad purview across the organisation. To respond appropriately to organisations strategy and stakeholder demands and its effects on the operations and performance, internal auditors proficiency has to aligned.
This webinar focuses on the environmental and sustainability aspects of the organisation and provides a theoretical background as well as practical guidance on internal controls.
