The macroeconomic scoreboard is an instrument for early identification of macroeconomic imbalances, occurring in the short term or as a result of structural and long-term trends. The scoreboard presents a limited number of simple macroeconomic and macrofinancial indicators with threshold values. The threshold values serve as warning values. Based on the macroeconomic scoreboard, the European Commission draws up an annual report with a qualitative and financial assessment of imbalances trends. The assessment also includes other indicators.

In times of economic uncertainty, the impact of monetary policy on the economy may be weaker. Moreover, a new DNB Analysis shows that not all forms of uncertainty have the same effect. Financial and geopolitical uncertainty, in particular, appear to be dampening the impact of an interest rate rise.

Growth in the Dutch economy is expected to be significantly lower this year than in 2025. This is largely due to the war in the Middle East, which has also caused inflation to rise in recent months. This is evident from the Spring Projections, published today by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB).
