DNO application time frame

The statutory decision period for a DNO application is 60 working days after receipt of a complete application. The decision period starts on the first working day after DNB or the ECB has confirmed, within the prescribed period, that the application is complete.

Experience shows that the overall process for a DNO application generally takes longer than the statutory decision period. This is because the decision period does not start until DNB or the ECB has received all required documents.

The decision period may also be suspended once for a maximum of 30 working days if additional information is needed to complete the assessment of the application. DNB or the ECB will then request this information from you. The decision period will only resume once all requested information has been received. If the application is not supplemented, or is supplemented insufficiently, the application may be left out of consideration within four weeks.

Standard of your application

The time we need to process your application greatly depends on its quality standard and completeness and the supplementary information that you provide. Generally speaking, we can say that the better the quality standard of your submitted application (both on content and completeness), the quicker we can process it.

Incomplete or incorrect information are a cause for rejecting your application. Insofar as provided by law, the assessment uses the concept of lex silencio positivo, meaning that the DNO will be assumed to have been issued by force of law if the consideration period is exceeded.
